Mind your business

So we decided to forgo implementing the 3D monkey into our predominantly 2D piece, despite Dave's excellent work in modeling and rigging the poor fellow. The good news is that this should make our piece more cohesive and it gives us a fighting chance at finishing on time.

Also, Mr. Woodcock has agreed to perform our voice-over but we won't be recording until Friday, So the finished product should be quite a bit different from what you see today. In a good way. Here's some stills that will be incorporated into the story.**

**Original post on Garrett's blog.

Here is the intro sequence. The book page does not have texture.

And that's it for now. Come back next time for some leg crushing action.

TEST RENDER

Here is a test render of the main character - The monkey

Story Boards

The story is inspired from the Indian folk tales "Panchatantra".

Once upon a time in a remote village in India, there lived a saint. He decided to build a temple for the villagers. So he got some carpenters and masons to start the work.

And so they started building the temple. There lived a monkey on the nearby tree in the construction site. He was very curious about what was going on.

He was particularly curious about the log that the carpenters were sawing. He though that some thing interesting would happen if he removes the wedge that was in there.

So he jumps down on the log.
And he tries to move the wedge vigorously.

In this effort he does not realize that his tail and legs are inside the slit created by the wedge.
Suddenly the wedge snaps and his legs and tail gets trapped in the log.
So he died in great pain. Moral of the story DO NOT POKE YOUR NOSE TO STUFF THAT DOES NOT CONCERN YOU.

TREATMENT

The piece is intended to be treated like a comic book. The initial part will be done like a 2D comic book illustration. The later half will be done as a mixture of comic book style matte paintings and toon shaded 3D animation.
